Ana-Mia and the Mature Woman

Posted by admin on 31 May 2008 | Tagged as: Online Gender Issues

I’m sure most women have heard the saying, ‘ You can never be too rich, or too thin’. I won’t comment on whether or not you can be too rich, but I do have some words on the too thin part of the statement.

‘Ana-Mia’, refers to Anorexia, and Bulimia, two of the most widespread eating disorders affecting our society. We constantly hear about teenage girls succumbing to these disorders. Our girls grow toward maturity, and find their bodies changing, developing toward womanhood, and there everywhere, are the images of ad models, female celebrities, with bodies starved, with waist, hips, legs, bearing a resemblance to those of a child. Our girls are being taught they should strive to retain, at all costs, their ‘little girl’ bodies. They are being infused with fear, at an early age, of not fitting in, not looking like the model of acceptable feminine beauty, set forth by a sick society.

What we do not hear about is the problem of more mature women, falling victim. As usual, the mature segment of our society has been overlooked, as far as research concerning yet another health issue for women. Yet, from my own personal research, I’ve discovered it is definitely a serious problem.

At a time in life, when it is so important for women to maintain a healthy diet, many mature women choose to follow rigid weight-loss plans, bordering on self-starvation. Often they adopt strenuous exercise regimens as well, in an attempt to either lose weight, or keep it off, or to achieve an unrealistic ‘perfection’, as to their body. A hoped for return to the body they possessed, ten, twenty, thirty, years ago.

There is no one cause associated with developing an eating disorder. Psychological factors are often mentioned as triggers, such as a dysfunctional family or relationship, or individual personality traits, such as a penchant for perfection. Emotional negativity, traumas such as rape, abuse, or the death of a loved one can result in triggering these disorders. Most women with eating disorders suffer from these three basic factors- low self-esteem, a feeling of helplessness, and extreme dissatisfaction with the way they look.

Society

Present-day society may be to blame for more than a few cases of eating disorders. This fashion and image obsessed culture bears no resemblance to reality. We are persistently brainwashed by the visual media. Daily we are bombarded by enhanced images of what are touted as ‘perfect women’. These women are too often alarmingly underweight, even to the point of emaciation. ‘Thin’ is perceived as the only possible acceptable look. Grown women, starved, often to the point of resembling pre-pubescent girls, and then cosmetically enhanced, sporting breast implants, butt implants, etc., these women are presented as the symbols of ‘perfection’ to the masses. So ingrained in our society has this image become, it now negatively affects every aspect of our lives, even permeating our workplaces. No matter how unrealistic it is to believe the average female can, or for that matter, would want to abuse her body in the manner mentioned above, society seems to have come to the point of no return, on this issue.

Thin Equals ‘Looking Young’

For mature women, society’s knife of influence is double-edged. Not only are we being told women must have a certain perfect body type, we are also being told that being overly thin equals looking young. ‘Lose weight, look younger!’ we see ads for diet aids promoted thus, everywhere. In such an atmosphere, even emotionally well balanced, intelligent women may be won over to the dark side!

What to do you know about gothic-style jewelry?

Posted by admin on 29 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Online Gender Issues

Have you ever had this feeling like you don’t care about
anything, because nobody understands your problems? Like
everybody thinks they know you - but don’t. They just don’t get
what your real problems and feelings are? Well then it was time
to feel depressed and dress gothic!

There is
nothing wrong with feeling depressed. We all do sometimes. Yet,
I’m not a doctor to give you a medical advise - so use it at
your own risk. As far as I know - depression often happens to
those who has nothing to do. People who has no hobby, no regular
work to occupy their mind, no entertainment, no spouse. There is
only one way to get rid of depression I know (without using
high-price pills). It is through the long path of finding
yourself and your hobby.

Searching for yourself
and your hobby - you can try gothic thing. It might be
interesting for you some time, and there are good chances you’ll
find something more interesting. At least you are doing new
things, which can lead you to new ways of looking at world. At
least I always enjoyed new paths in life - it always leads to
new decisions.

Shall we see in deep dark history
of topic. When the dragons were eating beautiful virgin
princesses and knight were drinking beer on ballrooms of
castles, sometimes fighting for a hand of a beautiful ladies and
hanginging witches. Kidding. Anyway, it Dark Ages it was. Dark..
I mean reallly really dark. That is what gothic is about -
black, dark, nothing white and nothing positive in nature. />
Gothic jewelry is always mystical and hard to
understand. You can find amulets with dark dragons and pendants
symbolising spider-webs, gettin you in the mood of ages with
rooms of castles, never visited since the beginning of times. If
you heart is something like that (forgotten and lonesome, like
nobody touched it from the begginning of ages, because they just
don’t understand you? All right! Get a pendant with web on your
heart - show everybody to get their attention to you until your
heart is full of webs.

Probably it will not be
good to to buy anything shaped with devils themes, gargoyles and
pentagrams. Better think ahead - who knows what is there on the
other side of life - so you might want to get a little insurance
right now to protect your immortal soul later. But! It’s your
life - want it - get it. It’s everywhere nowadays - you
shouldn’t have problems buying gothic things - all around the
Internet.

Gothic jewellry is sometimes inscribed
with letters in unknown forgotten language, which strengthens
the scare. Gothic is always scary (or at least a bit
frightening), so don’t be surprised to draw a lot of attention
from people who see you dressed gothic and with gothic make up
(which is simply all black or with a little purple). To add to
your image - get some spiky things. Earrings, rings, pendants,
bracelets. Jewellery of Gothic must have spikes and curves -
it’s just a base of it.

I hope when you are fed up
with attention to your gothic nature - you’ll get rid of your
depressive feelings forever and start wearing funny-bunny
pendants, rose glasses and put some bright colors on you, making
world a little happier place.

Viagra - Stay Away From Impotence

Posted by admin on 10 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Online Gender Issues

66% persons use Viagra in sex. 83% of Viagra users have sex at-least once after using the drug for a few weeks. 50% of men don’t refill their Viagra prescription. More than 20 million men around the world use it regularly. In the U.S., one out of every five men over 40 has tried it. On an average nine Viagra pills are dispensed every second. You can find numerous stories, internet searches, jokes also, saying Viagra, Viagra, Viagra. What more could anyone possibly need to know about Viagra?

We all know what it does, how it does and what it helps men do. But, what about the real Viagra experience? Nobody has ever talked on taking Viagra - Viagra Experience. Here I will be discussing some questions relating to Viagra Experience.

What Happens When a Man First Takes a Viagra Pill?

Absolutely nothing!!! The nothingness is so intense that the most common reaction one experiences is a slight panic that the drug isn’t going to work. Although, you may not feel anything but, the things are happening in the body. As the pill moves into the bloodstream, it starts blocking the enzyme called PDE-5, which eventually increases blood flow to penis.

How Do Men Get It to Start Working?

Viagra gets the blood flowing, but your brain has to be in the mood as well. The biggest misperception is this that it changes your psychology and makes you want sex. But, it is not so.

How does Viagra affects the virility of a person?

It might effect the person’s virility. It is under research as to whether taking a small dose of Viagra every night works to stave off impotence, just as aspirin.

Does Viagra Work for Everyone?
No. Half the people who try it don’t refill the prescription. Men who are regular users of Viagra say the pill has been a life-changing experience.

What Happens if You Take Viagra and You Don’t Really Need It?
For some users it may be uncomfortable, while for some others it may make things much easier.

What Happens If a Woman Takes Viagra?

Viagra can cause a noticeable sensation in women. Viagra gets the blood flowing to the genitals in women. So for women who have difficulty achieving orgasm, vaginal dryness or a lack of sensation, arousal or engorgement, Viagra may help.

Viagra can treat psychologically based ED, ED in men with vascular disease, men suffering from depression, hypertension, diabetes, ischemic heart disease and in men who have their prostate removed.

Levitra and Cialis work the same way as Viagra, blocking the same enzyme. Though it’s unlikely any one works better than the other, slight chemical differences mean that if one brand doesn’t work for a patient, another one might.

Viagra’s use can prevent impotence - The fact is far from proven. Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that the best way to prevent impotence is to keep yourself healthy by preventing veins from clogging up in the first place. Don’t smoke, eat healthy foods, lose weight and lower your cholesterol.

Turquoise is December’s Birthstone

Posted by admin on 02 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Online Gender Issues

If you’re still young enough to remember your birthday, you
probably also remember the special birthstone assigned to it.
But at your age, we bet you don’t really know the SIGNIFICANCE
of your birthstone and what power the ancients felt would be
bestowed about you by wearing it. December Birthstone: Turquoise
Birthstone Properties: Alternative Birthstone: Lapis Lazuli
Turquoise is the birthstone for December and the traditional
gift to commemorate the 5th and 11th years of marriage. It’s
color is, of course, is referred to as turquoise, but the hue
can range widely from the familiar green-blue to a light
sky-blue. It is generally accepted that turquoise gets its name
from “pierre turquoise” a French phrase meaning “Turkish stone.”
Others believe that the name comes from the Persian word
“fiouze,” meaning the color turquoise. Ancient and yet always at
the height of current fashion, turquoise was mined by early
Egyptians as early as 6000 BC. Many people are surprised to
learn that the finest turquoise comes from Iran, not the
American Southwest. However beautiful specimens are also found
in Arizona and New Mexico in the United States, as well as in
Australia, Afghanistan and other localities in the Middle East.
Sacred Stone For thousands of years, turquoise has been
appreciated as a holy stone, talisman, and a good-luck-charm.
The excavation of Egyptian tombs from approximately 3,000 B.C.
holds the oldest living proof of man’s interest in turquoise,
where the gemstone was found decorating artifacts that were
buried with the dead. When the tomb of Queen Zer was unearthed
in 1900, a turquoise and gold bracelet was found on her wrist,
one of the oldest pieces of jewelry ever discovered! In ancient
Persian, the sky-blue gemstones were originally worn around the
neck or on the hand as protection to ward off unnatural death.
If the stones changed their colour, there was an imminent danger
for the wearer. Turquoise also has a sacred place in the
religious rites of North American Indians and by the Tibetans,
whose shamans include it in rituals and ceremonies. Turquoise is
said to promote mental and spiritual clarity to enhance wisdom,
trust, kindness, and understanding. You’ve Got the Power Apache
Indians believed that turquoise gave warriors and hunters better
aim and Zuni tribes believed that it protected them from demons.
In Asia, turquoise was considered protection against the evil
eye, while Tibetans carved turquoise into ritual objects.
Wherever in the world it is worn and loved, turquoise is
believed to promote prosperity Traveler’s Aid For centuries,
turquoise was thought to protect riders and horses from falls.
Today the beautiful stone is considered a good luck “charm” for
aviators, flight staff and other professionals who need to ward
off accidents. Turquoise’s bright and happy color is supposed to
lend self-confidence to subdued personalities, and it is also
very popular as a token of friendship, since Turquoise is
reputed to be responsible for faithfulness and reliable
relationships
