Unfortunate news for Europe’s premier casino Everest poker. Last year’s sponsor of the WSOP has seen some drops in its poker revenue in the third and fourth quarters of 2009. The cause has been attributed to the current declining economic climate in the European regions.

In the second quarter poker online revenue dropped 36% down to 17.4 million compared to the benchmark from a year earlier.

Third quarter revenues from poker followed suit dropping 33% to 15.8 million from the former year’s performance.

And from projections 4th quarter is expected to follow suit.

It seems that the active depositing customers have fallen off a bit from 165k down to 156k players.

However, the second and third quarters have seen a rise in the new depositing customers, around 34k more players who haven’t deposited in the past. This of course is a good sign. Another good sign for Everest is the newest house bill introduced by Representative Barney Frank, which would effectivey reverse the UIGEA in the US and make the US market open again for competitors wishing to service the US.
